To our graduating class
Welcome to you, to your family and friends! Today, we celebrate the accomplishments of just under 350 students eligible to graduate at the MBA, Bachelor’s, Diploma and Higher Certificate Programmes, and recognise over 700 who pursued professional development and vocational courses in 2021. I’d like to extend my warmest congratulations to all of you on these wonderful achievements!
I’m sure that you will enjoy what we have lined up for you today, just as much as my staff, our faculty and I enjoyed putting it together. Our friends at the University of Bedfordshire, University of Hertfordshire and ABE Global have also sent their congratulatory messages. They too, are very proud to call you alumni of their institutions. During the photoshoot, I had the opportunity to meet with some students for the first time, and although online learning has so many advantages, my encounters reminded me just how much I miss the physical interaction I’ve enjoyed over the years. Hopefully, we will have an opportunity to celebrate again in person soon!
Today, you begin a new chapter. The world you are stepping into is full of new challenges, but also new opportunities and ways of achieving your goals. This year, we invite you to throw out the rule book and “Design your Destiny”.
Designing your destiny means taking control of your future and setting your own rules about your career journey. It means not taking for granted the old ways of doing things, but instead taking the skills and expertise you’ve developed through your qualification and charting your own entrepreneurial course. It means not feeling constrained by the skillset you currently have, but cultivating a state of continual growth to get to the future you truly want.
Our wish is that you go out into the world of work, eyes wide open, always listening, always learning, and using your creativity and business knowledge to see the opportunities everywhere, and the confidence in yourself to pursue these opportunities. We wish you every success on your journey.
