Sample Sidebar Module

This is a sample module published to the sidebar_bottom position, using the -sidebar module class suffix. There is also a sidebar_top position below the search.

The tertiary level programmes – Diplomas, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees are approved for GATE-funding.

GATE covers all tuition fees for undergraduate studies – Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and Bachelor’s Degrees; and 50% of tuition fees (up to $20,000.00 per year) for postgraduate qualifications – postgraduate diplomas and Master’s Degrees.

Applying for GATE Funding

GATE eService is an eService provided by MTEST with the purpose to automate student application, Tertiary Level Institution (TLI) verification and Clearance approval of GATE application, so as to provide an end-to-end workflow that will enable Funding and Grants Administration Division to administer the GATE programme more efficiently.

GATE eService aims to address the current issues such as reducing GATE Clearance and Application processing time as well as the redundant processes.

GATE eService also aims to improve the service quality by increasing automation and productivity of routine checks.


All citizens of Trinidad and Tobago who are accepted into a recognized tertiary programme may apply for GATE Funding via the eService.


Step 1: Register for a GATE eService ID (one-time process)

Documents required for Registration of GATE eService ID:

Original Birth Certificate

Original National ID or Passport

Original Marriage / Divorce Certificate (if required)

Where are ttconnect service centers located? 

There are currently six ttconnect Service Centre locations in Trinidad and Tobago. All locations are open Monday to Saturday.

Service Centres located in Arima, Bon Accord Tobago, Chaguanas and Tunapuna are open to the public from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, except on public holidays.

Service Centres located in Princes Town and St James (located at the NALIS libraries) are open to the public from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon, except on public holidays  :

N.B. This office DOES NOT PROCESS GATE APPLICATIONS. Only ttconnect ID and TTBizLink Registrations are processed at the Satellite Office, between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Mondays to Fridays except Public Holidays.

Step 2: Apply for GATE Funding via the eService (The GATE application will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete) all documents must be scanned and uploaded within this application process:

  • ID: National ID/Passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Married certificate/Divorce papers
  • Payment slip for (Post Graduate student)
  • School acceptance letter (This will be provided by the institution SITAL College)
  • All qualifications including ALL previously GATE funded programmes completed results e.g.: Certificate/Diploma/Degree/Diploma Year 1 result slips etc.

Step 3: View application status online OR Receive status updates via email

Step 4: Amend / Re-submit application (only if required)

Step 5: Sign Letter of undertaking (upon approval SITAL will print document for signing)

Originals of all of the above must be presented for verification.


Some students may require financial assistance to pay non-tuition fees such as exams, fees, books and course material. Once you’re accessing GATE, you are eligible for the government’s Student HELPLoan.

For non-GATE courses or for students not accessing GATE, the College has a number of payment options available, and can tailor a payment plan to your needs.
